I told people that last week's point spreads were absolute garbage. And I was proven correct. A miserable 3-8 against the spread while going 12-3 in the victory column. That means I got most of the games right while missing a lot of the spreads. It's hard when a lot of the games are either very close or have wide spreads. I like my spreads a lot in the middle. Anyway my season totals now come to:
Points: 81-96
Victories: 139-81
So let's give it another go, shall we?
49ers (-3) @ Titans: Niners now seem to be fully back and rolling while Tennessee is still trying to figure things out. They get AJ Brown back but I don't know. Tannehill has been shaky. Give me the Niners with a road win.
Points: Niners Victory: Niners
Browns @ Packers (-7.5): The Browns are basically dead men walking at this point. The hook is scary but without Myles Garrett providing pressure, the Packers might be in full command. I will take the Packers
Points: Packers Victory: Packers
Colts @ Cardinals (-1): PICK'EM! I can't think the Cardinals, after being humiliated by the Lions last week, will be caught on the off foot again. And I think Vegas thinks the same way. They will bring it in this game. I will take the Cardinals in a close one.
Victory: Cardinals
Chargers (-10) @ Texans: Davis Mills has very quietly been okay for the Texans, at least comparable to the meh performances of the other rookie QBs. The number is interesting because the Chargers might be looking ahead a bit. But after a bad loss to KC, I will take the Chargers hesitantly.
Points: Chargers Victory: Chargers
Rams (-3) @ Vikings: Rams appear to be getting healthy at the right time. They're even getting Cam Akers back after an Achilles tear. However the Vikings have played so many close games this year, that I could see them losing on a last second FG, which would kill me. This is why I am going to split this one, even with the low spread.
Points: Vikings Victory: Rams
Buccaneers (-10) @ Panthers: This is a tough number because Brady and company are walking very wounded with no Chris Godwin or Leonard Fournette. I know the Panthers are sucky offensively, but their defense is not horribly and without those weapons.... I think the Panthers keep this under the spread.
Points: Panthers Victory: Buccaneers
Bills @ Patriots (-2.5): PICK'EM #2 I wonder how rare it is that Bill Belichick has lost back to back games in December. My guess is not very often. That's usually when his teams start to roll. This is it for the Bills. They need this game and then they can kind of coast to the division. I think the home field plays in this game and the Pats win a close one.
Victory: Pats
Giants @ Eagles (-10): I know the Giants are getting healthy, but I trusted them last week and got nothing. And Philly wants revenge for blowing that easy game against them a couple of weeks ago. Give me the Eagles to cover.
Points: Eagles Victory: Eagles
Ravens @ Bengals (-3): Don "Wink" Martindale (as a game show fan, love this nickname) says they aren't doubling JaMarr Chase. Why would you say that prior to a game and make it open knowledge? Just fot that, I hope the Bengals crush them.
Points: Bengals Victory: Bengals
Lions @ Falcons (-6): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!
The Lions are on a roll, that's to be sure, but I'm wondering about Atlanta. They are 6-8 and just got knocked around by the Niners. They know they are now longshots to make the playoffs. I don't know how they react to that. I know how the Lions will play but not Atlanta, So the upset pick it is.
Points: Lions Victory: Lions
Jaguars @ Jets: PICK'EM #3. The Jets were originally a favorite in this game but COVID struck so the line has moved all the way down to a straight pick'em. Wouldn't be shocked if this game ends up being moved if more players. Either way, the Jets run defense is the worst I've ever seen. If James Robinson gets enough carries, the Jags will win.
Victory: Jags
Bears @ Seahawks (-6.5): The hook here makes the line very enticing. Two struggling offenses, but Seattle is more experienced and a raucous home crowd could spook Justin Fields. I will go with Seattle to just cover
Points: Seahawks Victory: Seahawks
Broncos (-1) @ Raiders: PICK'EM #4: This is a "Vegas has a feeling line" Broncos without Teddy Bridgewater on the road in Vegas; a 1 point favorite? It's a pick'em, so I'm free to roam. I think the Raiders win this easily as they continue to stay alive in the AFC playoff race.
Victory: Raiders
Steelers @ Chiefs (-8.5): I know the Chiefs haven't been great with the number, but I think they are rolling now and will destroy the Steelers.
Points: Chiefs Victory: Chiefs
WFT @ Cowboys (-10.5): This scares me a bit because Dallas seems to be struggling offensively. But Washington is so banged up and Gilbert couldn't move the ball for the most part against Philly; they needed some luck to get up. I'm torn so I will split and play for 10
Points: WFT Victory: Cowboys
Dolphins (-1.5) @ Saints: PICK'EM #5! This to me is easy. This will be a low scoring affair between two good defenses. But in the end, I will trust Tua over Ian Book.
Victory: Dolphins
