Greg's NFL Picks: week 17

 Last week.....

Points: 8-5 (82-80)

Victories: 10-7 (135-90)

Lions @ Cowboys (-5.5): Tough call. I'm going to split

Points: Lions    Victory: Cowboys

49ers (-13.5) @ Commanders: High spread but the Commies really have nothing to play for while the Niners do...

Points: Niners    Victory: Niners

Dolphins @ Ravens (-3.5): Don't like Miami's health coming into this. I'll take Baltimore to try and cement the 1 seed.

Points: Ravens    Victory: Ravens

Rams (-5.5) @ Giants:

Points: Rams     Victory: Rams

Cardinals @ Eagles (-12): Still too much. Can't trust the Eagles right now

Points: Cardinals   Victory: Eagles

Patriots @ Bills (-14): Spread is tough, but the Bills are looking for revenge and the Bills have owned the Pats in Buffalo recently. Going to split though. Division game

Points: Patriots   Victory: Bills

Saints @ Buccaneers (-2.5): PICK'EM!

Victory: Buccaneers

Raiders @ Colts (-3.5) UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!
Two teams going in two different directions. Colts suffered a bad loss to the Falcons. Raiders stunned KC. I will go with momentum and the Raiders. Evenly matched teams, so give me Uncle Mo.

Points: Raiders    Victory: Raiders

Panthers @ Jaguars (-6):

Points: Jaguars   Victory: Jaguars

Titans @ Texans (-4): Looks like Stroud will play so I will take Houston.

Points: Texans   Victory: Texans

Falcons @ Bears (-2.5): PICK'EM!

Victory: Bears

Steelers @ Seahawks (-3.5): Tempting. but I don't think the Steelers' secondary can contain the Seahawks' explosive passing corps.

Points: Seahawks    Victory: Seahawks

Bengals @ Chiefs (-6.5): Going to split. Chiefs are teetering and Bengals usually give the Chiefs problems.

Points: Bengals     Victory: Chiefs

Chargers @ Broncos (-3.5): zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Points: Chargers   Victory: Broncos

Packers @ Vikings (-1): PICK'EM!

Victory: Packers

Greg's NFL Picks: Week 16

 Last Week:

Points: 5-9 (74-75)

Victories: 11-5 (125-83)

Let's roll and have a Merry Christmas

Bengals (-3) @ Steelers: Bengals have kept it together while the Steelers have slid into almost obscurity. Stay with Cincy

Points: Bengals   Victory: Bengals

Bills (-12.5) @ Chargers:

Points: Bills    Victory: Bills

Lions (-3) @ Vikings: Lions have kind of been shaky, but Minnesota has a bit of flux. Give me the Lions

Points: Lions   Victory: Lions

Packers (-5) @ Panthers:  Give me the Packers. I still don't buy the Panthers

Points: Packers    Victory: Packers

Seahawks (-3.5) @ Titans: Honestly, I have no idea. I'm going to split it, because I could see either team winning.

Points: Titans    Victory: Seahawks

Browns (-3) @ Texans: Battle of Keenum vs. Flacco; give me the Browns' better defense

Points: Browns    Victory: Browns

Colts @ Falcons (-2.5): PICK'EM! Line makes no sense. I'm going Colts.

Victory: Colts

Commanders @ Jets (-3): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!
A very rare opportunity for me for the Jets to be the upset victim. And given their offense, why wouldn't I do it?

Points: Commies      Victory: Commies

Jaguars @ Buccaneers (-2.5): PICK'EM!

Victory: Buccaneers

Cowboys @ Dolphins (-1.5): PICK'EM! Miami's line is still kind of iffy. I will take Dallas in a bounceback

Victory: Cowboys

Cardinals @ Bears (-4):

Points: Bears    Victory: Bears

Patriots @ Broncos (-7): zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Points: Broncos    Victory: Broncos

Raiders @ Chiefs (-10): Little hesitant, but I don't know if the Raiders can score enough to keep within 10.

Points: Chiefs    Victory: Chiefs

Giants @ Eagles (-13.5): That's a lot for an Eagles team that has struggled of late. And it's a division game. I will split the difference. Eagles win by like 10 or 12.

Points: Giants    Victory: Eagles

Ravens @ 49ers (-5.5): Super Bowl Preview????? I'm going to split and go with the Niners because the Ravens are too volatile for me to win this one.

Points: Ravens     Victory: Niners

Friday, December 15, 2023

Greg's NFL Picks: Week 15

 Previous Week:

Points: 3-7 (eek again) (69-66)

Victories: 7-7 (114-78)

Need to focus and try get these right.

Vikings @ Bengals (-3.5): Really like the Bengals right now. They have found a way to win with Browning. And it feels the Vikes are hanging on for dear life.

Points: Bengals    Victory: Bengals

Steelers @ Colts (-1.5): PICK'EM!

Victory: Colts

Broncos @ Lions (-4.5): If I wasn't so positive about another game, this game would be my upset pick of the week. But at this point, I still have faith in the Lions. I'm going to split.

Points: Broncos    Victory: Lions

Chiefs (-8) @ Patriots:  End of the Belichick era coming? Feels like it. And I think the Pats will have a solid game plan for Mahomes. Again, I'm going to split.

Points: Patriots   Victory: Chiefs

Jets @ Dolphins (-9.5): Let's have another split! Dolphins are banged up and bad weather is rumored. I think they win but maybe by a TD.

Points: Jets    Victory: Dolphins

Giants @ Saints (-5.5): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am all in on Tommy Cutlets and crew. Plus the Saints aren't really that good. Should be a close low scoring game, but I trust DeVito over Carr at this point

Points: Giants     Victory: Giants

Bears @ Browns (-3): Cleveland defense and Flacco will continue to eat.

Points: Browns   Victory: Browns

Falcons (-3) @ Panthers:

Points: Falcons    Victory: Falcons

Buccaneers @ Packers (-3.5): I think the Packers will get a bounce back. Don't really know what to make of Tampa.

Points: Packers    Victory: Packers

Texans @ Titans (-4): Looks like Stroud is out and the Texans defense has not played well of late. Levis should be good to go.

Points: Titans    Victory: Titans

49ers (-12) @ Cardinals:

Points: Niners   Victory: Niners

Commanders @ Rams (-6.5): I will take the Rams, only because I have the hook for them. Commies can score to keep up, but a TD will win the bet for me.

Points: Rams    Victory: Rams

Cowboys @ Bills (-2): PICK'EM!

Victory: Bills

Ravens (-3.5) @ Jaguars: Two inconsistent teams but I think the Ravens are more used to these big games. I will take Baltimore.

Points: Ravens   Victory: Ravens

Eagles (-3) @ Seahawks: Seattle burned me last week. Time for vengeance.

Points: Eagles   Victory: Eagles

Greg's NFL Picks: Week 14

 Last Week:

Points: 3-8 eek (66-59)

Victories: 8-5 (106-71)

Have to be honest, the NFL has been pretty bad this year. Injuries, penalties, just seems to be soulless a bit. So, while I will continue to make my picks, they won't really have the zeal that I have tried to give. Plus, Friday is Cary Grant day in December on TCM and Cary is my favorite classic star so I want to get to that. So here are my picks.\

Lions (-3.5) @ Bears: Line is suspicious, but I have trust in the Lions.

Points: Lions    Victory: Lions

Rams @ Ravens (-7.5): I have the hook on my side and the Rams offense has really come to life of late.

Points: Rams   Victory: Ravens

Texans (-3.5) @ Jets:  Line is suspicious, but I trust the Texans, despite the report of bad weather which Stroud has not played in.

Points: Texans    Victory: Texans

Colts @ Bengals (-2): PICK'EM! I think if Browning can do a sliver of what he did last week, the Bengals will do fine.

Victory: Bengals

Panthers @ Saints (-5):

Points: Panthers    Victory: Saints

Buccaneers @ Falcons (-2): PICK'EM!

Victory: Falcons

Jaguars @ Browns (-2.5): PICK'EM! My gut is telling me Lawrence will not play this week in particular. I think the Browns defense will eat.

Victory: Browns

Seahawks @ 49ers (-11): Too high of a line IMO. Niners will win but it will be by at most 10.

Points: Seahawks      Victory: Niners

Vikings (-3) @ Raiders: I'll lean with the Vikings because I think Dobbs can't be as bad as he was last week.

Points: Vikings     Victory: Vikings

Bills @ Chiefs (-1): PICK'EM! I'm going with KC to be the better bounce back candidate this week. Bills have had a bad week.

Victory: Chiefs

Broncos @ Chargers (-2,5): PICK'EM!

Victory: Broncos

Eagles @ Cowboys (-2.5): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!
After getting the crap kicked out of them by SF, Eagles need a bounce back in the worst way. And Dallas can be iffy at times. Dak is due for a meh game.

Points: Eagles     Victory: Eagles

Titans @ Dolphins (-13):

Points: Dolphins    Victory: Dolphins

Packers (-6.5) @ Giants:  Giants are a nice story but the Packers are on fire right now. I don't know if the Giants can score enough to win this game.

Points: Packers    Victory Packers

Friday, December 1, 2023

Greg's NFL Picks: Week 13

 Previous week:

Points: 4-3 (63-51)

Victories: 8-6 (98-66)

So a meh week for me. Let's se if we can do better:

Dolphins (-9.5) @ Commanders: I don't trust Washington's secondary to slow down the Dolphins' offense. Give me Miami.

Points: Dolphins    Victory: Dolphins

Lions (-4) @ Saints: Saints are getting WAY TOO MUCH love here. I know the Lions laid an egg on Thanksgiving, but I think they'll bounce back off of that.

Points: Lions    Victory: Lions

Chargers (-5.5) @ Patriots: Chargers have to win this game or they're done. New England appears to have given up. I will take the Chargers. BUT I'm going to split it because I'm still scared of the Chargers.

Points: Patriots   Victory: Chargers

Cardinals @ Steelers (-6): I think the Steelers revival will continue as the Cardinals have officially checked out.

Points: Steelers   Victory: Steelers

Broncos @ Texans (-3): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!
To me this comes down to defense. And the Texans defense lately has been showing some holes lately, while the Broncos have rounded into form. I will take the Broncos on the road on the back of their defense.

Points: Broncos    Victory: Broncos

Colts @ Titans (-1): PICK'EM! I'll take the Colts who have moved into dark horse position for the playoffs.

Victory: Colts

Falcons (-2) @ Jets: PICK'EM! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Victory: Falcons

Panthers @ Buccaneers (-5): I don't love the Bucs, but I can't pick Carolina after all the turmoil they have gone through the past week. They are a mess.

Points: Bucs    Victory: Bucs

49ers (-3) @ Eagles:  Game of the day. I think the Niners are more complete, and they are healthier than the Eagles. I think they win, but I'm going to split it because I do respect the Eagles.

Points: Eagles   Victory: Niners

Browns @ Rams (-4): No Myles Garrett for the Browns and Joe Flacco is back in the saddle. Is the Rams' offense for real now? IDK but it should be enough to beat the Browns at this point. But I do respect the Brownies so I will split it.

Points: Browns   Victory: Rams

Chiefs (-6) @ Packers: Jordan Love has come along a nice bit and I think this game will be close in the cold weather of Lambeau. I will take the Packers with the points and the Chiefs to win.

Points: Packers    Victory: Chiefs

Bengals @ Jaguars (-8.5): Jags can bury the Bengals here and I think they will.

Points: Jags      Victory: Jags

Greg's QUICK NFL Picks Week #12

Combining last week with the 4 Thanksgiving holiday games, I went 9-4 against the spread and 9-8 in the victory column. That brings my season total to:

Points: 59-48

Victories: 90-60

Here are my quick picks for Week 12.

Jaguars (-1.5) @ Texans: PICK'EM!

Victory: Texans

Patriots (-3.5) @ Giants: Was going to be my upset pick but too many defensive injuries for the Giants. But I will split.

Points: Giants    Victory: Patriots

Panthers @ Titans (-3.5):

Points: Titans   Victory: Titans

Steelers (-2) @ Bengals: PICK'EM!

Victory: Steelers

Buccaneers @ Colts (-2.5): PICK'EM!

Victory: Colts

Saints (-1.5) @ Falcons: PICK'EM!

Victory: Saints

Browns @ Broncos (1.5): PICK'EM!

Victory: Broncos

Rams (-2.5) @ Cardinals: PICK'EM!

Victory: Cardinals

Bills @ Eagles (-3): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Points: Bills    Victory: Bills

Chiefs (-9) @ Raiders:

Points: Raiders    Victory: Chiefs

Ravens (-3) @ Chargers

Points: Ravens   Victory: Ravens

Bears @ Vikings (-3)

Points: Vikings   Victory: Vikings

Greg's NFL Picks: Week #11

I had another great week against the spread, going 8-2 on it, including the Thursday Night game. On the victories side, I went 9-5. The season total:

Points: 50-44

Victories: 81-52

This week promises to be very difficult. Let's see what I can do.

Cowboys (-10.5) @ Panthers: There is a possibility of a letdown by the Cowboys, but I don't know if Carolina is good enough to take advantage of that. I will take Dallas and give the points away.

Points: Cowboys    Victory: Cowboys

Bears @ Lions (-7.5): I do sense a bit of a letdown with the Lions but I do think the Bears can keep it under a TD because Justin Fields is coming back, and he has played decently at times. And I have the hook. I think the Lions win but I will take the points.

Points: Bears     Victory: Lions

Raiders @ Dolphins (-13.5): Dolphins can take command of the AFC East and I think they will. Raiders really haven't impressed in their 2 wins, and I don't think they impress here.

Points: Dolphins    Victory: Dolphins

Giants @ Commanders (-8.5): As bad as the Giants have been, I think they can keep it close with Washington. Washington has to tame these demons themselves. I think the Commies win, but it's gonna be under the number. Show me, Washington.

Points: Giants    Victory: Commies

Cardinals @ Texans (-6): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!
The Texans are a young team coming off a big win against the Bengals. This has the potential to be a trap. Especially given that Kyler Murray is back in the fold for Arizona. Texans are also a little banged up on the OL. I think Arizona brings them back down to Earth a bit.

Points: Cardinals   Victory: Cardinals

Titans @ Jaguars (-7): Jaguars need a bounce back and I think they get it.

Points: Jaguars   Victory: Jaguars

Steelers @ Browns (-1.5): PICK'EM! The Steelers seemingly have walked into great luck with the opposing QBs that they are facing. I like their chances vs. DTR and the Browns.

Victory: Steelers

Chargers (-3) @ Packers: I'm kind of torn. I don't trust the Chargers at all but I don't know if the Packers are good enough offensively to keep up. I think the Chargers will cover, but I'm not crazy about it.

Points: Chargers   Victory: Chargers

Buccaneers @ 49ers (-12): That's a big number but I don't know if Tampa will be able to stay on the field long enough to wear down the Niners defense. I will take the Niners and give the points away, a little hesitantly.

Points: Niners   Victory: Niners

Jets @ Bills (-7): This is right on the line where I would take Buffalo. At 8 or 9, I would probably go with the Jets, because I don't trust Buffalo. And Zach Wilson, for as bad as he has been, is 2-1 against Buffalo. I think Buffalo wins and covers, but barely.

Points: Bills    Victory: Bills

Seahawks (-1) @ Rams: PICK'EM! Seattle's defense is proving to be very capable and I think they will be the difference against the Rams.

Victory: Seahawks

Vikings @ Broncos (-2): PICK'EM! I love the Broncos in this game because of their defense. Their defense has really come on of late against Kansas City and Buffalo and now I think they will stop the magic man, Josh Dobbs.

Victory: Broncos

Eagles @ Chiefs (-2.5): PICK'EM! Both teams coming off their byes so no rest advantage. I'll take Kansas City because I trust them more to give me an all out effort. Philly, I'm still ehhhh on. I'll take the Chiefs.

Victory: Chiefs

Greg's NFL Picks: Week #10

A very meh week for me. Both of my upset picks failed, one in excruciating fashion. I went 3-5 against the spread and 9-4 in the victory column. That brings my record to:

Points: 42-42

Victories: 72-47

I'm going to keep it short and sweet this week because I'm kind of tired after working. So let's do it.

Colts (-2) @ Patriots: ZE PICK'EM! Pats may be in tank mode. Going for the Colts

Victory: Colts

Niners (-3) @ Jaguars: Key is that Deebo Samuel is tracking to play and he makes their offense go. I think the Niners bounce back with Deebo back in the fold.

Points: Niners   Victory: Niners

Browns @ Ravens (-6.5): I think the Ravens win, but I think the point spread is too high for two powerful defenses.

Points: Browns   Victory: Ravens

Texans @ Bengals (-6): Lou Anarumo, the Bengals DC, is going to have some treats ready for CJ Stroud and the Bengals will continue to rise in the AFC.

Points: Bengals   Victory: Bengals

Saints (-3) @ Vikings: UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Justin Jefferson may be back for this game after missing several weeks with a hammy. But even then, how can I go against Josh Dobbs and what he's done. Plus, the Saints still bother me and they're on the road. Give me Minnesota.

Points: Vikings    Victory: Vikings

Packers @ Steelers (-3): In the words of Steelers fan and YouTuber UrinatingTree : STILLERS GAHNTA SUPA BAWL! Give me the Steelers

Points: Steelers    Victory: Steelers

Titans @ Buccaneers (-1): PICK'EM! Tampa's defense got shredded last week by CJ Stroud, so why would I think that Will Levis couldn't do the same. Give me Tennessee on the road.

Victory: Titans

Lions (-3) @ Chargers: Chargers didn't impress me Monday Night. That game should have been over by halftime. Lions will take them out.

Points: Lions   Victory: Lions

Falcons (-2) @ Cardinals: PICK'EM! The return of Kyler Murray should spark the Cardinals' offense a bit and the Falcons black magic will continue to run out.

Victory: Cardinals

Giants @ Cowboys (-17): This has to be the biggest point spread I have covered in my 3-4 years doing this. But I'm going to give them away. I think. after a heartbreaking loss to Philly, Dallas will be looking to flex their muscles and take their frustrations out on the Giants. Barely, but I think Dallas covers.

Points: Cowboys   Victory: Cowboys

Commanders @ Seahawks (-6): Just like the Cowboys, I think Seattle wants to take some rage out after being humiliated by the Ravens. And Sam Howell, despite being a solid passer, is still getting sacked at a big rate. I will take Seattle to win by a TD.

Points: Seahawks   Victory: Seahawks

Jets (-1) @ Raiders: This pick is simply based on the fact that nobody expects the Jets to win. And that is usually when the Jets win. That, and the fact that despite all that has happened this week, the Jets are still favored on the road. I'll take the Jets in a close one.

Victory: Jets

Broncos @ Bills (-7): I think the Bills win, but I don't trust them to keep separate from Denver enough to cover. Denver showed some defensive prowess last week against KC, and the Bills defense is still suspect. I'll split the difference.

Points: Broncos    Victory: Bills

Friday, November 3, 2023

Greg's NFL Picks: Week #9

I had a solid week last week. I hit a couple of pushes on the spreads, and thusly, went 7-5 against the spread. I went 10-6 in the victory column to bring my season totals to:

Points: 39-37

Victories: 63-43

So let's get on with it:

Dolphins @ Chiefs (-2): ZE PICK'EM! From Germany, I think that the Chiefs were caught in a trap last week looking forward to this game. This should be a shootout in the morning, I think the Chiefs are more used to this spotlight, so I'm going with them, but I'm not overly confident.

Victory: Chiefs

Seahawks @ Ravens (-6): Ravens are on a roll; they lost the cover in the last minute against Arizona but they still put the foot to the pedal. Seattle stole a game against the Browns (dammit) so this has a bit of spite in it. Ravens easily (famous last words).

Points: Ravens    Victory: Ravens

Bears @ Saints (-8.5): The line scares me a bit, but the Saints are coming off their best offensive performace of the year against the Colts. And the Bears' pass defense is god awful. And I think the Saints defense will keep Bagent in line. Somewhat reluctantly, I will give the points and take the Saints.

Points: Saints     Victory: Saints

Cardinals @ Browns (-10): Whoever is playing QB for the Browns, they should have no problem for the Cardinals at this point. They were lucky to cover the previous week. Not again.

Points: Browns   Victory: Browns

Vikings @ Falcons (-4): I like the QB switch for Atlanta at this point, especially playing a Minnesota team stuck in between Cousins and Josh Dobbs (Jalen Hall will get the start). I will take Atlanta, and they better win IMO.

Points: Falcons    Victory: Falcons

Buccaneers @ Texans (-3): Two similar teams. I would lean Tampa because of their veteran experience but I do have some respect for what Houston has done. And they should be annoyed coming off a bad loss to the Panthers. I will split the difference here.

Points: Bucs    Victory: Texans

Commanders @ Patriots (-2.5): PICK'EM! Commies/Pats: THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN. I'll go with New England because I don't really like where Washington is right now. They sold off Young and Swear so they seem to be giving up, although they haven't said that.

Victory: Pats

Rams @ Packers (-3): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Both teams come into this game down, but IMO, the Packers have been a slight disappointment of late, while the Rams have been kind of what people thought they would be, Packers are also banged up on defense which does not help them, including Quay Walker, their leading tackler. I'll take the Rams to get the bounce back.

Points: Rams    Victory: Rams

Colts (-2.5) @ Panthers: PICK'EM! I'm going to take the Colts for one simple reason, The Panthers have not had a game all year in which they've given up less than 100 yards rushing. The Colts come in 6th in the NFL in yards per attempt and 9th in total yards. I think the Colts will run the Panthers into the ground.

Victory: Colts

Cowboys @ Eagles (-3): ANOTHER UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, for the first time this year, I'm pulling out the double. This game to me comes down to matchups. The Cowboys have not been the ground attacking team they've been in the past. They've gone more to the air. And Philly's secondary has been a mess for a while. On the defensive side, DaRon Bland has played very well in the absence of Trevon Diggs and Hurts not only has had more turnovers this year but has a banged-up knee which could limit his mobility. I'm taking Dallas to go into Philly and take out the Eagles.

Points: Cowboys    Victory: Cowboys

Giants @ Raiders (-1.5): PICK'EM! Usually when a team fires a head coach or a manager midstream, there is a game or two of a bounce up. All reports are that Raiders players are all in on Antonio Pierce. Besides that, the Giants have done a lot of whining about the officiating at the end of the Jets game last week. That's not a good mindset to have going into a football game. The Giants should win, but I don't think they are in the right mindset. I will take the Raiders.

Victory: Raiders

Bills @ Bengals (-2): PICK'EM! I love Cincy here. They seem to have found themselves and are starting to hit their stride. The Bills are still.....just there. They need to show me that they can overcome those two major injuries to win against a great opponent. I will take the Bengals.

Victory: Bengals

Chargers (-3.5) @ Jets: I'm going to split the difference here. Chargers should win, but the Jets have played teams close basically all year; and the Chargers have to come east to cold temperatures which could slow down their offense. I'm not ballsy enough to pick the upset here, but I could see it happening. For now, I'm taking the 3.5.

Points: Jets    Victory: Chargers

Friday, October 27, 2023

Greg's NFL Picks: Week #8

I think I had one of the worst weeks I had when it comes to picking victories. I went just 5-8 in the victory column but went 5-4 against the spread. A couple of my splits worked out partially in my favor. For the season:

Points: 32-32

Victory: 53-37

Now to the picks:

Eagles (-7) @ Commanders: The spread makes this a bit tough, but I have to split this. The Commies have played tough against the Eagles twice this year and the Eagles still haven't popped IMO.

Points: Commies    Victory: Eagles

Jets (-3) @ Giants: This is a game where I am at a loss. I have no idea what's going to happen. It's going to be low scoring and ugly. Because of that, I am going to the split well once again. I think the Jets win but I'm taking the 3 points.

Points: Giants   Victory: Jets

Patriots @ Dolphins (-9.5): Patriots usually struggle in Miami and the Dolphins are getting Jalen Ramsey back which should help their defense. I will take Miami by 10 points.

Points: Dolphins    Victory: Dolphins

Jaguars (-2.5) @ Steelers: PICK'EM! My gut is saying Steelers. They just seem to find ways to win. And I have to give them credit for that. Maybe if this was a half point higher, it would have been my upset pick of the week. But regardless, I will go with Pittsburgh from the gut.

Victory: Steelers

Rams @ Cowboys (-6): Dallas fresh off of a bye at home? I'll go with Dallas to take out Los Angeles by a touchdown.

Points: Cowboys     Victory: Cowboys

Vikings (-1.5) @ Packers: PICK'EM! Packers have been disappointing to me this year. I'll take the Vikings.

Victory: Vikings

Texans (-3.5) @ Panthers: Texans defense under DeMeco Ryans has been impressive. I think they will carry the day and lead the Texans to a win.

Points: Texans    Victory: Texans

Saints (-1) @ Colts: PICK'EM!  I can't trust the Saints at all. Give me the Colts, who should have won last week but got refballed to death.

Victory: Colts

Falcons (-2.5) @ Titans: PICK'EM!  Falcons have been winning despite their QB of late, and I think they will continue to do that against a Titans team that looks like it's about to have a fire sale (Derrick Henry in particular)

Victory: Falcons

Browns @ Seahawks (-3.5): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!
Defense travels in the NFL and the Browns have one of the best defenses in the NFL. I saw Seattle's OL crumble against Cincy a few weeks ago. Myles Garrett should have a field day. And PJ Walker is settled down. I'm calling for the Browns to win their 3rd in a row in Seattle.

Points: Browns    Victory: Browns

Chiefs (-7) @ Broncos: Chiefs can futz around all they want. They'll win by at least 7. I think. The Broncos still don't impress me. I will take the Chiefs.

Points: Chiefs   Victory: Chiefs

Ravens (-9.5) @ Cardinals: This high spread scares me a bit but the Cardinals have really started to erode. Enough so to take a flyer on the Ravens covering the 9.5. It's a risk, no question about it, but what's life without a little risk?

Points: Ravens     Victory: Ravens

Bengals @ 49ers (-4): I think the Niners will win, but I can see it being a FG game. The Bengals are strong enough now to give the Niners a push and the Niners haven't been good the last two games. I'll split the difference.

Points: Bengals   Victory: Niners

Bears @ Chargers (-8.5): Dear lord NBC, what have you done? I think the Chargers win, but I can't give away 8.5. They're not trustworthy. I'll take the split.

Points: Bears    Victory: Chargers

Raiders @ Lions (-8): Lions are due for a bounce back and the Raiders are garbage. Give me the Lions easy

Points: Lions   Victory: Lions

Greg's NFL Picks: Week #6

I had previously said that this could have been my worst week ever. Boy was I wrong. I went 6-5 against the spread and 11-4 in the victory column. Boy my memory was bad. Almost as bad as the quality of football that week. That brings my season total to:

Points: 27-28

Victories: 48-29

And now, courtesy of the DraftKings Sportsbook, Here are these weeks picks:

Lions @ Ravens (-3): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKK!
Yes, it could be a trap. Yes, the Lions might be due. But I don't trust the Ravens one bit. They play around too much. And they get burned quite a bit. They can't do that against this Lions team. And because the Ravens are too prone to playing these games, I'm falling right in,

Points: Lions    Victory: Lions

Bills (-8.5) @ Patriots: I think the Patriots will try and stand up defensively for this game. For some odd reason, I think it will be close. I'm going to split the difference and take the points. Maybe because the Bills are prone to these games.

Points: Patriots     Victory: Bills

Commanders (-3) @ Giants: Giants have had the Commies number of late and their defense played very well at Buffalo. However, their offense is less to be desired. Because of that. I'm again going to split the difference. I will pick the Commies to win but give me the points.

Points: Giants    Victory: Commies

Falcons @ Buccaneers (-2.5): PICK'EM! The one time I give the Falcons some allowance and they blow it miserably. NOT AGAIN. Tampa bounces back.

Victory: Bucs

Browns (-3.5) @ Colts: I love the Browns defense. It reminds me the Jets defense last year. Shut down but don't get a lot of turnovers. Minshew bombed against Jacksonville and it's going to be even tougher for him. I'll take the Browns with a TD victory.

Points: Browns    Victory: Browns

Raiders (-2.5) @ Bears: PICK'EM! Two young backup QBs going at it. I think the Raiders, having already started O'Connell, have the edge via experience in playing with him. Plus their defense is the best unit on the field. Give me the Raiders on the road.

Victory: Raiders

Cardinals @ Seahawks (-7.5): The hook scares me a little bit, but the Cardinals look to be slip sliding away. And they're playing in Seattle. I will take Seattle comfortably.

Points: Seahawks    Victory: Seahawks

Steelers @ Rams (-3): Love the Rams here. Steelers are 3-2. but they have a really negative point differential. They will have to score points to beat the Rams and I don't think they can efficiently do that.

Points: Rams    Victory: Rams

Chargers @ Chiefs (-5.5): I love this spread because its not too big and I know the Chiefs have some trouble with that. With this spread, I will happily and comfortably take the Chiefs.

Points: Chiefs    Victory: Chiefs

Packers (-1) @ Broncos: PICK'EM! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Oh um.....Broncos I guess

Victory: Broncos

Dolphins @ Eagles (-2.5): I love Miami for a couple reasons:
1. Ever since giving up 233 rushing yards to the Chargers, the Miami rush defense has been solid. Now part of that is the offense, but they should have some credit for that.
2. Eagles have not played a complete game all year. They have to show me that can do that.
Give me Miami.

Victory: Dolphins

49ers (-7) @ Vikings: It looks like a lot of the injuries the Niners sustained against the Browns were not season ending, which is a good thing. Vikings barely beat the Bears last week. I think the Niners win by 7 so I will go for the push.

Points: Niners    Victory: Niners

Greg's NFL Picks: Week #6

I started so well last week. I won the first 3 games against the spread. But then I got kicked in the rear by losing the next 6. So that's not great. Victory-wise, I went 8-6, so that's decent. That 6 losses in a row, by the way. includes the Broncos last night getting nipped by 11. So my record now is:

Points: 21-23

Victories: 37-25

Now onto this week's picks:

Ravens (-4) @ Titans: God the Ravens beat themselves more than any team in the NFL. But the Titans are just blah. Ravens usually bounce back from tough losses, so I will go with Baltimore to cover. I just wish the Ravens were more certain.

Points: Ravens    Victory: Ravens

49ers (-10) @ Browns: If Watson was playing, I think I would split because Cleveland;'s defense is that good. But the Browns are starting PJ Walker and I feel that the Niners are going to get some turnovers off of him. I'll take the Niners winning by 10.

Points: Niners     Victory: Niners

Panthers @ Dolphins (-14): Last week, Miami did not play great offensively and still put up 31 points. I have to go with Miami, even with that big amount because I have to think they will play better offensively. I know no Achane but Jeff Wilson is not a slouch.

Points: Dolphins    Victory: Dolphins

Seahawks @ Bengals (-3): Bengals came to life last week at just the right time (not for me). They are back at home and get a west coast team coming in at an early time? I'll take Cincy to record their second straight win.

Points: Bengals     Victory: Bengals

Greg's NFL Picks: Week #5

I had a great week last week. Not good, a GREAT week. 8-3 against the spread (including the Dick Butkus remembering Chicago Bears. If I had known he died before I made the pick, I would have probably split. I believe in that kind of juju). And 11-5 in the victory column. Which brings my record to:

Points: 18-17

Victory: 29-19

Now here are my picks for this week:

Jaguars @ Bills (-5.5): Jaguars are a good team, but the Bills are on a roll. However, the Jaguars are already in London so the Bills might have to play catchup on the clock. And the Bills might have a letdown after blowing out Miami. I think the Bills win but the jet lag prevents the cover.

Points: Jaguars  Victory: Bills

Giants @ Dolphins (-12.5): Normally I stay away from the high spreads, but the Giants are bad; they're injured. I don't know how they keep this close. So I will give the 12.5 away.

Points: Dolphins    Victory: Dolphins

Panthers @ Lions (-10): I'm with the Panthers as I said last week. Lions will win by 10 points.

Points: Lions    Victory: Lions

Ravens (-4.5) @ Steelers: Kenny Pickett will play but not Pat Friermuth, the Steelers TE who has 2 TDs this year. This line is respectful of the rivalry, but Ravens are in a much better shape right now.

Points: Ravens    Victory: Ravens

Texans @ Falcons (-1.5): PICK'EM! I'm in on Houston. They have a good mojo going right now. Atlanta still bothers me. I will take Houston.

Victory: Texans

Titans (-2.5) @ Colts: PICK'EM! Very odd line. The Colts are not great defensively. But Tennessee is too Jekyll and Hyde for me to back. I'll take the Colts

Victory: Colts

Saints @ Patriots (-1): PICK'EM! This could be the most boring game in the history of the NFL. Two teams that struggle to score and have good defenses. I know the Pats defense is banged up, but I will take New England because of reputation. Sorry. I have no interest in this game.

Victory: Patriots

Eagles (-4) @ Rams: I have to respect the Eagles for what they have done, but the Rams will get Cooper Kupp back. I'm going to split the difference here. The Eagles have not really been impressive yet and the Rams can play a bit.

Points: Rams    Victory: Eagles

Bengals (-3) @ Cardinals: UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why should I believe in the Bengals? They have given me nothing to be excited about. The Cardinals, on the other hand, have been competitive in every game. They're at home. Maybe the Bengals get up finally, but I don't know. Give me the Cardinals at home.

Points: Cardinals   Victory: Cardinals

Chiefs (-3.5) @ Vikings: Vikings have the offense to keep up with KC, but I just can't trust them. Besides you know the NFL wants to keep the Swifties happy hehehe.....  However, I will split the difference because of their offense and the possible hook.

Points: Vikings    Victory: Chiefs

Jets @ Broncos (-2.5): PICK'EM! The loss of DJ Reed at corner scares me, but the Jets have had this game circled all season. I think Hackett will go pedal to the medal and if Wilson (Zach) plays like he did against KC, the Jets will win comfortably. As it is, I will pick the Jets to get revenge.

Victory: Jets

Cowboys @ 49ers (-3.5): Niners haven't really been tested yet by a quality defense. This is the week for that. I think the Niners will end up winning, but I think it's going to be very close. And the hook is in Dallas's favor. I will take those points and pick the Niners to win.

Points: Cowboys    Victory: Niners

Packers @ Raiders (-1): PICK'EM! I know the Packers got steamrolled by the Lions last Thursday, but I can't trust the Raiders. Adams has a shoulder injury, Josh Jacobs is having a down year and the QB situation is in flux. Give me the Packers as the more stable team.

Victory: Packers

Greg's NFL Picks Week #4

So I continue to creep up the standings. 6-6 against the spread last week and 9-6 in victories.
That brings my season total to:

Points: 10-14

Victories: 18-14 (includes Lions win Thursday Night)

Now onto the picks:

Falcons @ Jaguars (-3): Jags need a bounce back after getting shocked by Houston. Still don't really like Atlanta. I will take the Jags in London

Points: Jaguars    Victory: Jaguars

Commanders @ Eagles (-9):  I still don't think the Eagles have played to their potential and Washington beat them last year. I'm going to split the difference here. I will take the Eagles to win but the Commies with the points.

Points: Commies   Victory: Eagles

Dolphins @ Bills (-2.5): PICK'EM! Game of the week right here. And IMO I think Miami wins. That opening night loss to the Jets still bothers me with Buffalo. This is a show me game for them. They need to show me they can do this. Until then...

Victory: Dolphins

Vikings (-4.5) @ Panthers: Panthers defense disappointed me last week. They were in the game for a bit but couldn't quite beat Seattle. I'll go with Minnesota simply because Cousins has been too good for them to go 0-4.

Points: Vikings    Victory: Vikings

Bengals @ Titans (-2.5): PICK'EM! Cincy's offense still isn't playing well enough to me but it should be enough to down the woeful Tannehill and the Titans.

Victory: Bengals

Ravens @ Browns (-1): PICK'EM! Tough call. I think I'll go with Baltimore. They need a bounce back after last week. And overall I trust Lamar over Deshaun Watson so far this season.

Victory: Ravens

Steelers @ Texans (-3): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!
This might be a reactionary pick to last week's upset, but the Texans and CJ Stroud have been solid this year. And the Steelers are kind of lucky to be where they are. Their defense has been okay. But they're on the road and I think Houston can win. Again, this might just be reactionary, but I'll try it.

Points: Texans   Victory: Texans

Buccaneers @ Saints (-3):  Two very similar teams. I think I trust Baker over Derek Carr so far. But they're very close. This is probably the sneaky game of the week. I'm going to split the difference because I don't really know.

Points: Buccaneers   Victory: Saints

Rams @ Colts (-1): PICK'EM!  Anthony Richardson will be back for the Colts, and there shouldn't be much of a drop-off. Also, very quietly, Matthew Stafford has thrown the same number of INTs as Zach Wilson with 4. I'll go with Indy to surprisingly get to 3-1.

Victory: Colts

Broncos (-3) @ Bears: The Bears are the worst team in the NFL. By far. Imagine if the Jets had a horrible defense. That's what the Chicago Bears are. Give me Denver because at least they won't have to worry about having 70 put up on them again.

Points: Broncos    Victory: Broncos

Raiders @ Chargers (-5.5): This is tempting me to split. The Raiders defense hasn't been horrible this year and you can't trust the Chargers at all to put their foot down. Reluctantly I will give the points away but I am not completely satisfied with it.

Points: Chargers    Victory: Chargers

Cardinals @ 49ers (-14): Once again, the Cardinals are a double-digit underdog. They are the first team since 1977 to be 3-0 against the spread when they are a double-digit dog. I think they get to 4-0. They play hard and the Niners don't really play a speedup game like Miami does. Give me those points.

Points: Cardinals    Victory: Niners

Patriots @ Cowboys (-6): Wasn't impressed by New England at all against the Jets. Cowboys want to bounce-back after getting blindsided by Arizona. I think the Cowboys win by 7.

Points: Cowboys     Victory: Cowboys

Chiefs (-9) @ Jets: The only reason to watch this game is to see how many times NBC cuts to Taylor Swift in her MetLife suite. I see this being 31-17. Give me the Chiefs

Points: Chiefs    Victory: Chiefs

Seahawks (-1.5) @ Giants: PICK'EM! One stat shows me the way in this game. The Seahawks defense is ranked 29th in the NFL in scoring BUT, in terms of yards allowed per attempt, they are 3rd in the NFL at 2.9 yards per attempt. That is huge against a Giants team that wants to run Saquon and Daniel Jones. The Giants do not have the weaponry to keep up with Seattle in the air. Therefore, I think Seattle will win.

Victory: Seahawks

Greg's NFL Picks Week #3

Well I did better than I did in Week 1, but still not great. Including my dumb decision to take the Giants' points last night, I went 6-7 on the spread and 10-6 in victories. That brings my total after 2 weeks to:

Points: 10-15

Victories: 18-14

And now for the picks:

Bills (-6.5) @ Commanders: The Bills got healthy against the Raiders and I have the hook of a TD cover. However, I am hesitant because of the weather, the Bills do not have a power running game outside the QB. I think I will stick with Buffalo, but I'm iffy.

Points: Bills   Victory: Bills

Broncos @ Dolphins (-6.5): This is tempting me because Miami's defense has not been great the first two weeks, but Vic Fangio is out for vengeance against his former team. And again, I have a TD cover. Give me Miami.

Points: Dolphins   Victory: Dolphins

Texans @ Jaguars (-8.5): This is slightly scary. but I think Jacksonville needs to beat Houston at home. Houston has the best record at Jacksonville of any of the AFC South teams. And they are slightly banged up. I will take Jacksonville, slightly nervous.

Points: Jaguars    Victory: Jaguars

Falcons @ Lions (-3): Falcons are 2-0, but they don't really feel like a 2-0 team. Detroit needs to bounce back. I think they hand the Falcons their first loss. However, the Lions are really banged up on the defense and the Falcons can run the ball. So I'm going to split the difference.

Points: Falcons    Victory: Lions

Colts @ Ravens (-8): This is a split line for me. I think the Ravens win, but I have problems with the Ravens in terms of covering some numbers. And Gardner Minshew has played well for the Colts. I think the Ravens win by 7 which means I will take the points.

Points: Colts     Victory: Ravens

Patriots (-2.5) @ Jets: PICK'EM! Weather could be a key factor in this game, but it comes down, once again, to showing me. The Jets need to show me they can beat New England. Until then....

Victory: Patriots

Chargers @ Vikings (-1): PICK'EM! Maybe the most entertaining game between two 0-2 teams. I will go with the home team as both teams are basically mirror images of each other.

Victory: Vikings

Titans @ Browns (-3.5): Browns defense will have to go into overdrive in this particular game as Kareem Hunt gets into form replacing Nick Chubb. And Tennessee is susceptible to turnovers in bunches as they have shown this year. I will take the Browns

Points: Browns   Victory: Browns

Saints @ Packers (-1) PICK'EM! Despite their defensive collapse at Atlanta, I still like the Packers. Jordan Love has been pretty good for them in the early going. I will take the Packers.

Victory: Packers

Panthers @ Seahawks (-5.5): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!
For the second week in a row, Seattle is involved, only this time, they are going to get knocked off. Coming off a big win at Detroit, there might be a little letdown. But there are two major factors for me. One, Seattle is REALLY banged up on both sides of the ball. Secondly, Andy Dalton is getting the start instead of Bryce Young for Carolina. He should handle the atmosphere better. Panthers are going to win a game eventually and this is it.

Points: Panthers    Victory: Panthers

Cowboys (-12.5) @ Cardinals: The Cardinals have been game for the first two weeks. That number is a bit too high to me. Especially at home. Cowboys win, but probably by ten points.

Points: Cardinals   Victory: Cowboys

Bears @ Chiefs (-12.5): If you've had a bad week, rest assured the Chicago Bears have had a worse week. Fields calls out the coaches publicly. their DC is forced to resign after the FBI raids his house, and crooks break into Soldier Field and steal 100k worth of equipment. And the bad week will culminate in a drubbing at Kansas City.

Points: Chiefs    Victory: Chiefs

Steelers @ Raiders (-2.5): PICK'EM! This is a toss up for me. Both teams are kind of meh. I'll go with the Raiders because Jimmy G has shown me more than Kenny Pickett so far.

Victory: Raiders

Eagles (-5) @ Buccaneers: Bucs are the surprise here at 2-0, but I think they get a rude awakening on Monday night. Eagles really haven't played great, but that could be a motivator for them to keep up the pressure. I will take the Eagles because they have the proven track record. But....... I will play it a bit safe by splitting the difference.

Points: Bucs     Victory: Eagles

Rams @ Bengals (-2.5): PICK'EM! Go time for the Bengals. They have to win this game. I think they will, but it will be uncomfortable.

Victory: Bengals

Greg's NFL Picks Week 2

A HORRIBLE WEEK 1 for me!

4-6 in the spread column and just 8-8 in the victory column. I was bitten by a few points here and there but there's no excuse. Then again, Week 1 is a bit of a flukey week. I will (have taken) the Eagles -6 in the Thursday Night game over the Vikings. And now to my main Week 2 picks:

Chiefs (-3.5) @ Jaguars: This would have been a prime upset/trap game if the Chiefs had won week 1. But having lost Week 1, and now seemingly having Chris Jones back in the fold, I will take the Chiefs to bounce back.

Points: Chiefs   Victory: Chiefs

Raiders @ Bills (-8.5): That spread is a little too much for me. I think Buffalo will win but I can't trust them to blow out a solid Raiders team coming off a win at Denver. Split the difference.

Points: Raiders   Victory: Bills

Ravens @ Bengals (-3.5): I want to pick the Ravens so badly. But their line and defense are banged up (as seemingly they always are) and the Bengals are at home trying to bounce back after a loss to Cleveland. I might have a hook problem, but I will take the Bengals.

Points: Bengals   Victory: Bengals

Seahawks @ Lions (-5.5): UPSET PICK OF THE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!
The Lions didn't really play great against the Chiefs if you look at it. They were clutch and took advantage of some poor Chiefs recievers. Seattle needs this win after laying an egg at home against the Rams. Last year, Seattle won in a shootout in Detroit. I think roughly the same thing will happen.

Points: Seahawks   Victory: Seahawks

Chargers (-3) @ Titans: Ryan Tannehill is awful. Give me the Chargers to get to 1-1

Points: Chargers    Victory: Chargers

Packers @ Falcons (-1.5): PICK'EM! This game's line changed very quickly with the news that Aaron Jones, the Packers great RB is injured. But I'll be honest. I think Jordan Love might be for real. And Atlanta did not play GREAT against Carolina. Give me the Packers on the road

Victory: Packers

Bears @ Buccaneers (-2.5): PICK'EM! The Bears are a coaching mess. I don't trust them at all. Give me Tampa to eke by.

Victory: Bucs

Colts @ Texans (-1.5): PICK'EM! This line bothers me. The Colts played decently against Jacksonville, surprisingly so. But I wonder if Vegas knows something. I'm going with the Texans, suspiciously.

Victory: Texans

Niners (-7.5) @ Rams: This is a case where the hook scares me. I think the Niners will win. but the Rams showed up well against Seattle and the fact that it's 7.5 instead of 7 bothers me. I will take the Niners to win BUT because of the hook and the way the Rams looked in Seattle, I will take the points

Points: Rams   Victory: Niners

Giants (-4) @ Cardinals: Giants need this game badly and they know it. I think they will come out with an intensity to wash away the stench of that Week 1 drubbing by Dallas. If the Giants don't win this game, their season is likely over because of their schedule. I'll take the Giants.

Points: Giants   Victory: Giants

Jets @ Cowboys (-9): I'm holding my nose here and taking the Cowboys with the points. This is going to be a low scoring game. Both teams have injuries offensively. I see this game as close for 3 quarters and Dallas pulling away late. Reluctantly, I will give points away.

Points: Cowboys   Victory: Cowboys

Commanders @ Broncos (-3.5): I want to take the Commies badly, but I don't think I can do it. Denver's going to be desperate, and Russell Wilson did play okay. I'll take Denver, barely.

Points: Broncos   Victory: Broncos

Dolphins (-3) @ Patriots: The Pats are equipped to defeat Miami with a strong running game, and that's the only chance they will have to control the game. Honestly this game could go either way. I'm going to split the difference. I will take Miami but take the points also.

Points: Patriots   Victory: Dolphins

Saints (-3) @ Panthers: Saints played meh and won against the Titans. I think they will play better against the rookie QB in Carolina

Points: Saints   Victory: Saints

Browns (-2.5) @ Steelers: PICK'EM! Steelers really disappointed me last week. They have to earn my trust back. Give me the Browns to ride some momentum and get to 2-0 in the division.
